Today marks 1 year since I've started this little blog of mine. To be honest I'm really surprised I was able to stay somewhat consistent with updating it. I had 76 posts to close out the year and my goal now is to make 100. I also want to thank the 4 people who may or may not still be reading this anymore. I appreciate every comment you leave behind letting me know that you actually exist. Alright, that's about it. Thanks again!
Last weekend I participated in the wedding of a long time friend of mine. Being in the wedding party, I was around a lot of his family. Many of whom I've met throughout the years knowing him but never really remembered their names. Now I'll be the first to admit I'll forget someone as soon as I stop talking with them. My long term memory is pretty non-existent when it comes to people. The weird thing was though, many of these people remembered me. Not only did they remember my name, but the last time they saw me. It was weird to hear someone say "last time I saw you was at that No Doubt concert" (thats a different story and it was 1997, get off my case!). Who the hell remembers stuff like that? If you all know me you know I certainly don't.
It's not only his family that does this either, sometimes I have random people come up to me from high school (or junior high, even weirder) talking about stuff I can't remember and thinking that I remember who they are, then I feel like an ass and too embarrassed to admit that I don't. Is it so wrong of me to forget some things after 10+ years? It's not as if I'm trying to disassociate myself from my past it's just that I really don't remember it as well as everyone else around me it seems. I didn't think I really left that memorable of an impression back then.
I'm flattered that I have that kind of impact on some people but next time I have a puzzled look on my face or am not responding very much, at least tell me who you are and where you know me from. Maybe then I can fill in the rest but even not, you can tell me all about some juvenile stunt or prank I did that you remembered. I'll still appreciate it.
Jill pointed out this website to me http://www.expotv.com where ordinary people give product reviews for $5. There is one woman that Jill and I have been watching that it too funny to not pass along.
I LOVE M&M'S CANDY! IT IS THE BEST CANDY IN THE WORLD!
So theres this new Doritos flavor that got me interested. I'm always a sucker for a new junk food gimmick and this was no different, the packaging had me wonder what was really inside and the name, X-13D? sounds like something out of Star Wars. So I paid 99 cents for it on my lunch break, took it to my car and forgot about it.
When I got back to work I decided to read up on this to see if there was any more information about it. Wikipedia had nothing (which I thought was weird) and there were no other major news articles about it so I started searching community messageboards.
Apparently the "mystery flavor" is cheeseburger. Are you kidding me? fucking CHEESEBURGER?! thats the most disgusting thing I've ever heard of! thank god I didn't open it but what am I going to do with it now? Anyone want a free bag of shitty Doritos?
Wait, I'll bet Nate will eat it, he'll eat anything.
Things are beginning to fall into place for me these days. My classes have finally wrapped up for the semester and I think I'm getting a 4.0 in one class and and a 3.5 and 3.0 in the others though I may try to pull that 3.5 to a 4 with some extra credit that is due on Wednesday. I was up until 4am on Friday morning finishing up my final paper so I could it in on the due date.
This past weekend Jill and I made the long trek to Marquette to see her youngest sister graduate. While the drive there was nice the only frustrating thing was that NOTHING seemed to be open. We stopped in Mackinac City thinking maybe we could find someplace to eat but everything seems to be closed until next week. It was a reoccurring theme with the U.P. I think if I had to live in a place that was only operational when the tourists arrive I would go mad!
Marquette was good though, gorgeous but cold. The weekend really seemed to fly by though. Hopefully the rest of the week will do the same. I've got a wedding to be in this Saturday but otherwise my schedule is clear. It's such a great feeling to be able to say that again.
